Isaiah 23:9-13

New International Version

⁹ The Lord Almighty planned^(A) it,
    to bring down^(B) her pride in all her splendor
    and to humble^(C) all who are renowned^(D) on the earth.

¹⁰ Till^[a] your land as they do along the Nile,
    Daughter Tarshish,
    for you no longer have a harbor.
¹¹ The Lord has stretched out his hand^(E) over the sea
    and made its kingdoms tremble.^(F)
He has given an order concerning Phoenicia
    that her fortresses be destroyed.^(G)
12 He said, “No more of your reveling,^(H)
    Virgin Daughter^(I) Sidon, now crushed!

“Up, cross over to Cyprus;^(J)
    even there you will find no rest.”
¹³ Look at the land of the Babylonians,^[b](K)
    this people that is now of no account!
The Assyrians^(L) have made it
    a place for desert creatures;^(M)
they raised up their siege towers,^(N)
    they stripped its fortresses bare
    and turned it into a ruin.^(O)
